Spice of Bengal

After hearing about it for a while I finally went over the weekend - my impression was that the food was quite good, with a big menu, but it was perhaps a bit of a victim of its own success as it was pretty busy and we were a bit slow getting served throughout the meal.

Anyone else had experience of this restaurant?

I hate being rushed when eating out. I remember being asked to leave in an Indian restaurant because the table had another booking on it that night. It spoilt what had been an enjoyable evening up until then.

Yes , we have noticed that the service has gone down hill a little recently at "The spice", we were there not long ago and we were ushered from our table as soon as we had placed out last spoonfull of yellow stuff in.

Nice food but service a little rushed.

I celebrated my birthday at the Spice on Saturday 18th April and the food and service were fantastic!

They even provided chips and beans for my ultra fussy son!  At the end of the meal they gave me a complimentary bottle of champagne.

Went there last Wednesday evening with a  party of 20 ladies for the 3 course meal for £9.95 each.
The service was very quick despite the place being completely full. The food was lush. One of the best Indian restaurants i've eaten in. I have just moved down from Leeds/Bradford where i have been for 12 years and as the home of indian cusine and having been to absolutely loads of places i would rate this one up with the top ones in Leeds/Bradford where indian restaurants are two a penny.

I had the Lamb tikia as a starter, a Chicken Korma, plain nann and a potato/spinach dish. lush..... Will def go back with the hubby.

when i say the service was quick i mean they got the food out to us quick but at no point did we feel pressured to leave quickly got there at 8pm and left at 10:40pm one of the last to leave!!!

Usually get a takeaway from here when at my friends house - one of the better Indians I have had locally - good takeaway.

Usually works at around just over £40 for four of us. Thats mains, rice and a Naan each.

I eat here at least once a month and cannot praise it highly enough. I have eaten at indian restaurants all over the uk and it rates in the top 5 for service, quaility and price.
There are offers on the first wednesday of the month (3 courses for £9.95 per person), its well worth trying out.

I went to the Spice of Bengal last night and had a meal there. I am a big fan of Indian cuisine, both in actually cooking it and eating it!  I was impressed with the menu which has broken away slightly with the anglicising of the dishes and serves a more authentic meal for the diner to enjoy. The restaurant was packed to the rafters last night and the waiters worked extremely hard to keep everyone happy - which they did. I would certainly welcome a return back to this eatery.

ive been there a few times and always found it really nice .excelent staff and your not kept waiting for your food.

I would rate the Spice of Bengal just behind the Refa Tandoori in Melksham for quality and variety of food. The Refa has an authentic Bangladeshi menu as well as the anglicised curries such as Madras and tikka masala.
