Smoothies.......With many people turning to smoothies now and the big craze for them as a healthy way of taking all the vits we need each day, I heard on the radio the other day that there has been a marked increase in decay in teeth caused by the acid content in the fruit :roll: :roll:
Whatever we eat someone picks up on, eggs, butter etc etc maybe we all should stay in bed wearing a suit of armour and a crash helmet on !!!!!!!

Am i right in saying that smooties are just a load of fruit mashed to a pulp??

There's a subtle difference between smoothies and milkshakes... the difference is - (..wait .. for .. it .. ) MILK! :)
My own favourite is done in a blender and has:
3 small or 2 med very ripe bananas;
half an avacado
1 lime's juice (juiced separately)
2 oz each - raspberries, blueberries and blackberries.
Blend and serve.
[note that the acid content of fruit in smoothies is dodgy for teeth and that in order to extract all available nourishment from a smoothie (milkshakes and juices as well) one should always 'chew' the drink as though it were the whole fruit. This also gets every drop of flavour out of the stuff as well.)

I never add cream yoghurt or milk to my smoothies, just fruit I use any fruit from the fruit bowl its also a good way of using fruit up if you have surplus, I use apple or orange juice as a base then add wotever I feel like it may be kiwis and apples just a matter of choice really.
I have a recipe book for all kinds of smoothies including detox ones :) :)
