with the landfills quickly becoming full. That is what will happen .there are some places in england now where they get a fione if they do not recycle.

Councils should be fined instead. Why can't we recycle batteries, for example, via a doorstep service? I just don't understand...

its to do with lorry space. Its also the reason why they cont collect plastic bottles.i would have thought they wouldnt get anough batterys to make it viable.

If the landfill sites are full, dump it at sea there is plenty of room there .
selected waste would not do any harm at all

of corse it would soiley it would damage the marine life for a start.
it would also cause pollution when you are dumping that amount of rubbish.

I think selected rubbish is fine to dump at sea as a lot of it is made from natural things like rubber, iron, wood, paper.
i think to much is made of the fact that we could ruin the earth.
Earth will be here for a long time long after we have.
We are not that mighty that we could destroy a planet

Plastic can now be recycled at Sainsbury's.
I would encouraged everyone to recycle, should there be a penalty if they don't thats a diffilcult one.
I would try the carrot first and if that does not work then I am afraid a big stick is required.
Lets not be mistaken we do need to recycle we cannot go on using our resources up at the rate we are!

We try to recycle as much as possible but it gets a bit much when you are having to store not only your rubbish but also the recycling because of fortnightly collections - I live just outside the Calne area.
We compost all the veg matter, recycle all tin, glass, paper and plastic but still end up with a wheelie bin full of rubbish which is mainly useless packaging.

I know some people who dont recycle anything at all and use the black boxes for storage of tools in the shed! I think you should be made to recycle something as its not tht hard to put it in anothe rbox and it would benifit every one in the longterm. But it depends on how you could go about this like each fsamily would use different stuff so have different amounts to recycle so would be hard so sort out who isnt recycling enoughj etc if any of that even amde sense to you
