going back a few years there was four places in calne where you could rent videos .now there is none.video shops are very much in the decline. There is no need for them now its quite sad really.i used to love getting a chinese and hiring a video but where films now adays are so quickly turned out to buy or are on telly .i remember jarrassic park took 2 years to come out on video and four to reach the telly.now the dvds are out in six months
it will also mean the end of cinemas.

It is far to easy to download films nowadays. Why rent when the ability to get them for free exists?

You're thinking at the end of the parade. It was there less than two weeks ago (also sells gifts and cards).

It is possible to get any file/song/movie/program from a whole host of file sharing sites. The most common one is bittorrent. However, there is a high risk of downloading virus infected files. Most of which are released by companies that object to bittorrent/file sharing sites.
One of the easier program's I have used for file sharing is limewire. Although winmx is easier but you have to pay for that service now. Winmx decided to charge people to make sharing films and songs legal.

Personally, I use LOVEFiLM : a postal service that lets you have three DVDs out at any one time for a fixed monthly fee.

Trouble with all these free sharing sites is you start thinking where are the film companies going to make their money, with cinema attendances falling - the answer I fear is that they won't and we'll see a lot go to the wall and get less variety as a result.

even blockbuster does home rental now, you just visit there website, and pay a monthly fee, and they will deliver them to your door

I still have limewire... it wrecked my old PC, had to do system restore to sort it out...

Heh, let's see. When I left, there was a video store above the post office, one opposite the Boots chemist and one opposite the post office. I think I had a card to the one above the post office, which was a converted office with about four rooms off a corridor and the walls were lined with VHS.

You used to also be able to get videos in the shop by the jenny wren.

The one above the post office was the first one to open in Calne.
