I won't understand those rates, but we had a big push for diesel cars here back in the 90's when it was 25% cheaper than gas - now it's 25% higher.

I believe fuel over your side of the pond is much cheaper comparitively speaking than here Bigcity but we pay a large percentage in tax (70% or more if I recall) someone will correct me if I'm wrong its appalling really because every single item that you see around you has at sometime or another been on the back of a lorry so if fuel prices go up guess what happens next yes thats right everything else will go up soon.

How much is fuel in the u.s.a big city?

We currently pay 66% in tax on fuel in the screwed up country of ours.
No doubt when this country gets a bit more populated and polluted the government will then tax breathable air with yet another eco-friendly tax combatting the problem of people who "over-breathe". Obviously this will have a detrimental effect on those who hyper-ventilate but will be a boon to those with asthma.

Diesel is $3.90 a gallon, gas is $3.24. Roughly a dollar higher than a year ago.
The reasons we always get here for the increases are the increased demand from China and other growing markets and there are not enough refinery's(and no new ones will ever be built). This really gets to be a real life issue when you see that those costs are passed on to everyday items you use and I haven't even had a cost of living raise at my job in 5 years.

That is a hell of a lot cheaper than over here - for diesel that works out about approx £2 per gallon - and we are paying £1.10 per litre!!!
For a gallon (using US Gallon not UK Gallon (apparently we use different conversions)) of diesel over here its about $7.90 - So you can see BigCity why we complain alot.

In Australia, Commercial Diesel, is about 30cents a litre. (This info is about 7 years old). The big road trains leave engines running overnight to keep the cab warm because it is so cheap over there.

but they have us over a barrol .we have no choise to be honest they can charge us what they want and we will have to pay it because we need it.
no wonder there is very few private garages now.
calne had what thomas, one by the soho and all closed they can not keep up with the demand once again the super markets are winning with the price of petrol.
tesco is you spend 50 pound you can have 5p off a liter which is hell of a lot making it around 107 there.

I took my Iveco Daily 35.08 to Tamworth at the weekend. It cost £65 in Diesel to do a 240 mile round trip.
That is 20mpg in my book.

Makes me kind of Glad I don't have my Senator any more.
That had a 75 litre tank. It would cost me close to £100 to fill nowadays. It was £60 to fill when I had it.

I went to London earlier today and one garage on the way was selling diesal at £1.24 per litre. This country is going to come to a halt pretty soon if nothing is done about this situation. Apparently the government is earning 1 million pounds every minute in tax from fuel duties - 66% of the price on fuel is tax.
What do we get for our money with all these taxes we pay? The roads are as pot-holed as the moon and they are even thinking about bringing out toll booths on motorways to create extra income. On top of that they are also penalising so called gas-guzzlers with an increased tax burden when there is already a perfectly fair system of taxation in place - use more fuel, pay more tax!!
The more we pay for our fuel the more everything else in this country rises in price. The increases will have to take place to cover the increases in transportation costs and so things start to snowball a little. How come America can sell fuel at less than half the cost we do and we are the ones getting shafted??

thay say by this time next year the cost will be around 1.50 a litre .
there is nothing we can do about it.
