they couldnt have smashed window as the place was all borded up.
it he building was to remain derilict then no doubt it would be vanderlised but after the publicty that they intend to re open it who ever did vanderlise it has to be pretty stupid. |

do they do it out of boredom?
or because the parents cant be arsed to know where there kids are. i went out a couple of weeks ago we had a few drinks nd walked home we met a group of kids of about 14 15 years of age and the lanuage what was coming out of them was unbeliveable.they were walking in the middle of the road the girls had skits on what could only be descriped as belts and the lads thought they looked cool with cans of beers in there hands .some of the girls were drunk. agreed we have all been round about there when we were fifteenvery few of us wouldnt have been drunk at some point of that age .but we walked back at 130am so where were the parents and what the hell were they doing letting there kids out so late.so really who is to blame the kids or the parents? |

I am not condoning the damage that has been done but the bottom line is that if the centre had not closed then it would never have happened and why did it close? because the people of Calne who are so annoyed by its closure didnt use it in sufficient numbers for it to stay open. It reminds me of the lyrics to a song whose title escapes me "You dont know what you've got till it's gone". Hope we have learnt our lesson. | ||

vandelism????????????????????????//i don't think this was vandelism as not many vandals go to the bother of stripping out lead flashing and then removing all the damage. more like someone out to make a quick shilling (12 old pence).many of the teenagers in calne really do want the centre to reopen!

From another website I am registered with. There seems to be a lot of 'Pikey's' that hunt down and strip old/derelict/abandoned/empty buildings of their lead.
One such example is this. The post shows some before and after pictures taken by the same guy with a few months in between. As you can see the roof was perfect. Now it is badly damaged and susceptible to damp in the wooden roof beams. |

I t is a shame when you get people who vanderlise property.The one thing i didnt like about the sports center was the fact it was very limited public swimming.I remember going up there as a kid on a sat afternoon and they had the huge inflatable pluto which was great and a lot of fun. If you want to take the kids to the pool many will opt for the oasis and the olypiad simply because they have more to offer for kids. The oasis has a wave machine and slides,the olympiad has slides,rapids . calne has a pool. It would be nice to see some of the inflatables back in the pool to bring back the fun value of the pool. |
