It's not just down to the design, but also how people park, especially in the lower one at the back of the library. Many a time i've popped into town on my lunch break and have not been able to park as there are quite a few people who take up 2 parking spaces

to be fair kizzy parking places arnt that wide.you only need one car to park out of sync then the whole lot are.
i would sooner take up a bit more space than have my doors hit.
again its all down to the design process just why do they get away with it?

Parking spaces everywhere seem to be designed for cars such as the Nissan Micra or the Ford Fiesta because they are so ridiculously cramp you end up knocking the car next to you with your door when you get out of your vehicle. People who can't park properly make the situation worse.
And what is it with the so called disabled drivers who park in the Mother and Baby spaces?? I have found that in several supermarkets these disabled drivers seem to think they can park in the Mother and Baby spaces despite having twice as many spaces already alloted for their needs. I have taken to parking in the disabled bays when I can't find a Mother and Baby space because trying to get a small child/baby out of a car door in the normal spaces is about as likely as me becoming the next pope!

YOu will still get done for that.I WOULD HAVE SAID IT WAS THE OTHER WAY ROUND THERE SEEMS TO BE MORE parent and baby space.than disabled.

The Tesco store in Trowbridge has got twice as many disabled spaces than Mother and baby yet seem to be full of these brand new "disabled" vehicles. They are more than catered for in supermarkets but seem to think they have a special licence to park anywhere they like despite a lot of them being perfectly able to use a normal space and leave the mother and baby spaces for their alloted purpose.

I dont understand "mother and baby" parking bays. Maybe im just being old  but when i had my kids there wasn't special bays, we just had to make do, and keep the kids under control (god, i sound old  )

The Motability Scheme gives qualifying people the ability to lease/purchase a new car, so that it probably why you see new ones.
In fact, disabled people do have a licence to park most anywhere where they do not cause an obstruction, but it would make sense to use disabled spaces first, I agree with that.

Personally I think it is very irresponsible of people to choose to have children when they know how difficult it is to get them out of the back of cars in these cramped parking areas and as for people who choose to become disabled well it shows no respect for the rest of the public.
