Sad news regarding Miss Shirley RymerI gather that Miss Rymer, former Senior Mistress at John Bentley School has passed away after long illness, bravely borne.
Is anyone able to let me know if there will be a Memorial Service or other Commemoration? I'd appreciate this.
With her encouragement, I have made my way into the world of education and work all over the UK as a hands-on history teacher bringing special history days into primary schools as one of the 'Off the Page, Ltd' team.

Thankyou for relaying this very sad news to us, Angela. I had a very lot of time for Miss Rymer (she even saved me from being suspended once after putting in a good word for me  ) and thought she was an excellent teacher. She was an inspirational teacher who left her mark on all her students and I am sure that she will be sorely missed by all who knew her - students and fellow teachers.

Miss RhymerA sad lose, great lady. She taught me how to read maps, use a compass on many of her long rambles around the country.
She is now on her next great adventure.

I was very sad to hear about the passing of Miss Shirley Rymer and have added a headline about her, with a photo, on my school website at http://www.CalneBGS.co.uk with a link to this page so others can add their tributes and memories of her.
