Mrs. Eales who taught history at North wing was probably my favourite teacher. She made teaching an easy task by bringing the subject to life in a lucid interesting way. She was also a bit of a looker which helped as well!

Mr Cook was an interesting teacher who was a bit eccentric but very passionate about his chosen subject.
Local lass

one of my faveourite teachers of north wing had to have ben mrs mills she was fab.a excelent teacher in english and in drama.
homer

Mrs Mills was good fair teacher there was also a drama teacher at north wing she left around '84 I think can't remember her name, She was nice
daffy

Roll eyes mr cook was agreat teacher ,he certainly knew his stuff .
Does anyone know if he is still about ?
GTB

Mr Aggot was a one off teacher who swore more than the pupils but was an exceptional bloke. Sadly missed.
daffy

Local lass

Hi, bear with me im new at this, saw some old teachers names that rung a bell there, charnley cook etc. I left in 1980, wanted to throw a few other names into the mix, like the old Geography teacher, Mr Rigby (the pipe smoker), and I remember the day in 6th form somehow me and a few others spent our dinner break in the White Hart and Mr Rix came in saw us playing pool and smoking and then asked if he could borrow fags off us cause hed left his at school, lol
Local lass

I was caught smoking by the sports center by mr white (who smoked like a troopoer his self)
he made sure we knew he saw us then looked the other way.

Alive and well and living in Cambridge. Most of the other teachers presumed dead are also alive and kicking - where these rumours of death come from god only knows.

I saw him a few years ago and he hasn't changed one bit.
Clunk

I assume I still hold it, but I used to hold the record for quickest time to get booted out of a lesson with tucker. 3 seconds.
Kizzy

Clunk's Sis here - My Tutors were from 1990-1995 in no particular order:

Mr White
Mrs Dobie
Mrs Myers
Mr Harmer
Mr Thornton (had a go before his breakdown)
There was also another female teacher, can't remember her name, but she took over the class for a short while when Mr White became Mayor

I was based at South wing and our tutor room was always in the technology block

And I believe Local Lass you were in BN (I had a few friends in Mr Maidens Tutor Group)
Local lass

kizzy i was in bt not bn.
Big Smile
Clunk

Wasn't mr white my head of year for a time?
Kizzy

That's what I meant Local Lass - I knew it was either BT or BN smiling

Yes Clunk he was your head of year
Local lass

we had the lovely mr small for are head of year.
Clunk

Dont remember him.
Local lass

He may have been a little after your time clunk.
we also had mrs robson(take a look at the book)
and for a while we had mrs dobie.
Kizzy

Mrs Dobie was our Head of Year eventually - She was when we left anyway. That's why Harmer became my tutor
Clunk

What book?
Local lass

sorry clunk there is no book.it was a phase we used to take the mick out of mrs robsons accent.

wasnt mr harmer welsh
Clunk

Yes he was.
Kizzy

I used to like Mr Drage as a teacher - he made RS an interesting subject and always managed to get a discussion about his boat and trips to the Norfolk Broads into the lesson plan
Clunk

Mr Drage was a star
Mr Drage wrote:
Shagging with a condom is like eating a choc-ice with the wrapper on.
He said this to us at random. I remember it was second year, though.
Local lass

i remember mr drage he always reminded me of dr who.
he was a fab teacher i loved his lessons.

did you ever have mrs walton kizzy
Kizzy

If we did it wasn't memorable - I think she filled in for a couple of lessons when teachers were out sick
Local lass

I also had mr davis for science he gave me a detention once i had to write two sides of a4 on a light bulb
Bear

Detention now theres a blast from the past I think the worst essay I was ever given to do in detention was two sides of an A4 paper on the "Inside of a ping pong ball". God knows what I wrote .
Kizzy

I remember my whole French class were given a detention for upsetting the exchange teacher or something like that and we had to sit and write out 1-100 in French from memory.

Luckily for us the teacher left us in the room alone and asked us to hand the paper into her office, what she forgot to do was remove all the French dictionarys which had 1-100 written in French in the back
Local lass

I had mr stagg for maths he was a good teacher.I also liked Mr collins .I hated Mrs dack and Mr philips.
Kizzy

I had Mr Stagg for maths one year, his wife was also a supply teacher - quite liked both of them as teachers
Local lass

We had his wife very rare though.stagg was a good teacher in maths .
GTB

I never had Mr Stagg for maths. Our maths teacher was Miss Evans(I think :? ), who later became Mrs. Pitman after she married "Percy" Pitman the rural studies Teacher.

Who can remember the very eccentric Mr Mundy, the R.E teacher at North Wing?
Local lass

is this the same pitman as pitman the science teacher who used to have a hitler moutasce and ginger hair
GTB

Erm...... yeah. He was ok actually. Just another person doing their job really.
Kizzy

I remember the name Mr Mundy, but can't think what he looked like.

I remember Mr Lewis and his constant habit of licking his lips
GTB

Mr Lewis was the Deputy Head Master for a while and was a very fierce teacher who every pupil of the school was scared of. I once got a telling off from him just because my watched beeped!
Local lass

I saw mrs hopkins walking through town the other day she looks quite old now.i had her for geography.you never messed around with her.

Mr Mundy walked around everywhere with 80's shades on all the time. He taught religious education. One of my favourite teachers, plus he was my tutor for years 4 and 5.

Mr Lewis was my chemistry teacher for the last 2 years. He used to walk around the classroom with a sawn off broomhandle and whack it on the desk next to you if he thought you weren't concentrating. I remember Jacob Quin dropping an entire flash of concentrated sulphuric acid right in front of his desk, he had a mini-fit that made everyone go dead silent. Before him we had Mr Parry, really tall and always wore a white lab-coat. I was also in the same year as Mr Lewis' son. I remember getting caught with a pair of chinese throwing stars that I made in metal-shop by Lewis, it was an hour in his office I'll won't forget in a hurry...
Clunk

I am having difficulty in remembering mr lewis.
Deputy head? Was he the short fat bald one? I think he was.
I was outside his office regularly for not going into assembly. I kept telling him that he preaches god and how that is against my religion. He sent a letter home to Dad. Dad wrote back basically saying 'Yeah, and?
On the form you had at the start of the year where you are supposed to give your details (dob, next of kin, address, etc.) it used to have a box asking for your religion. Dad used to write 'Not relevant for education purposes'.
I hated mr lewis.
Mrs hopkins twin daughters were in my year.
Mr Mundy, I had dealings with him. I think he was my second year RE teacher. However, I remember ending up with mr drage for re in the same class. This could be because mr drage is more memorable.
Another favourite teacher was mr cook. The art teacher. He was a good un. He used to pass us on the path between castlefields and curzon park on the way home from school and tell us that we should be a bit more discreet with our fags.
Local lass

Mr lewis used to be called cut throat ken.
he wasnt bald clunk he had white short curly hair blacked rimmed glasses he was a little podgy he was deputy head.

i can vagely remember mr cook now he was bald i think he left when i was in second year.

Old teachers

Hi, just found this forum and got my memory going
Mr Mundy lives in Salisbury and is heavily into the church, does counselling of the youf down there- used to ride a motor bike all the way from Salisbury every day to JB. TAll lanky with a hair cut like a monk without the tonsure.
Saw Mr Stagg & wife in Sainsburys last week- shocked as he can't have been as old as I thought at school.
Mr Lewis- also 'big in the church' as was Miss Gleed
Mr Rigby died many years back- had been a prisoner of war under the Japs, lovely gentle man.
Mr Drage- turned up running a psychology course a few years ago now properly retired and apparently still lives in Urchfont. Strange bloke- I babysat his kids several times, always trying to analyse things, but wicked sense of humour. Wasa vicar before becoming a teacher!
Mr Hulley now retired in Derbyshire.
Mr Nock was a rugby fan I remember- had a radio on for that, and a very keen bridge player. Used to go about with Trevor Johnson . Ah me where did the days go when all the teachers looked older and now they look too young to be teaching!!!
Adrian007

I've also stumbled across this forum - it's mentioned in the comments on a youtube vid.

It never occurred to me that some of my teachers may now be dead!

Mr Aggett used to give lines like nobody else, even writing small you could get maybe 3 of his lines onto one side of  a4 - I remember they started 'I must not perpetuate my idiotic tendencies...' I got 50 once!

My 1st year tutor was a geography teacher that eventaully married the german teacher - can't remember either names. That was 1T.

2nd year - Jock Maiden
3rd Year - was the german teacher i think

Mr Nock taught me economics.

Mr pett taught history and had a great explanation of Lord Palmerstons way of governing the known world and also a very phallic map of the charge of the light brigade.

Trevor Johnston - taught maths - he was good

This has got me thinking...
Local lass

2nd year - Jock Maiden

he was my tutor at school.and he is still there.he was fab he just let us do what we wanted.
superdons

miss levy

I think miss levy had some sort of breakdown after she lost control of my english class and ran off in tears. She must of left at the end of that year summer 1985 because she turned up in bristol as a supply teacher and found me in here first lesson . she didn't stay very long after that can't think why  Evil Mind

This thread has brought back many strange memories!

I was a pupil from 1980 to 1987...

I remember having Mr Wharton as a tutor; is he still at JB? there is a teacher called Mr Wharton still there....

I remember Mr Rigby teaching geography when I was in 1o

We had a french teacher, Mrs Brown

I was taught history by Mr Pett, Mr Tucker and Mr Guilfoyle

I remember Mr Pett telling us that if you were sick you would always bring up carrots (true)

Was taught english by Mr Rix also Mr Griffin - a real legend!
maths by Mr Nock

I remember Mr Mundy teaching RE also Miss Rymer

Mr Lewis scared me silly and did anyone ever understand a single assembley given by the then headmaster Mr Murphy??!
GTB

You must have been a North Winger if you were in 1o. I had Mr Mundy for R.E. A very eccentric chap indeed. Big Grin
