There is quite a fair bit of history in Calne but unfortunately a lot of residents are not bothered by it. I remember at school we had a project where we had to create a tourist brochure trying to sell Calne as a tourist destination - and I was surprised at how much I found out about the history of Calne and it architecture.

And Calne gardens which were wrecked when the new road was put in about 1967 or 1968 ish. Only black & white in them thar days :lol:

Good God that took me back Dave we moved here in '65 and I can just remember it so your date of @68 or '69 is about right. It also reminds me of how busy the A4 was then because the M4 was built and Calne was on the main road from Bristol to London.
