YES....we would not let an animal suffer unnecessarily....and if I personally got to a great age where my quality of life was nil, I would want to shuffle off this mortal coil

With you on that one !! (and I am of great age but not ready to roll over and die yet.)
The only problem that I can see is if you are not in a position to make that decision. If you are unfortunate enough to suffer from dementia as many of us will, you do not necessarily feel ready to call it a day. It maybe you aren't aware of what is happening or how much your carers are suffering just trying to look after you.
I think it's too much to ask your carers to make that decision for you and by the time the decision needs to be made (if you follow that path) the individual may not be in a position to make it.
Maybe a living will is the answer but I'm not even sure about that because somebody somewhere HAS to bear the responsibility for making the decision effectively to kill or murder you. WHO?? Drs, Nurses, your next of kin ?
I know many next of kin have been in that position but it is not one that I would wish to place my family in even though I've often said if I go Gaga shoot me. How would they know :lol: ?

i agree in it .if people who of sound mind made a living will to state that if anything should happen in a accident which the injurys would leave like a vegtable then its better to for the doctors not to help you live but to controll any pain which may occour.
people dont let animals suffers and people shouldnt either.
as long as it was done by someone with sound mind then fine.
