is it fair for parentsthat in some schools the cost of school trips are nearly doubled what they should be so people can pay for the kids who parents are from single parent famileys or are recieving benifits.?
i personaly think it is so wrong and makes me dam mad.
its not even a option to pay it.if they cant afford it then they shouldnt go.

Totally wrong. Being from a "poor" background, I hardly ever went on school trips, and from what you have said, why should working families subsidise those that don't?
Both my parents were working, but being from a large family we simply could not afford it, but we didn't ask or expect handouts.

This subject has been mentioned at my eldest children's school. On the one hand it seems a bit harsh to deny a child from a poor family the joy of going on a school trip but on the other hand it seems overly harsh for parents no matter how good their job is to subsidise their travel arrangements.

I think most schools have funds which parents on low incomes can apply for help with such things as school trip/uniforms etc.
When my kids went to cherhill school, i was on the friends committee and parents could apply to us for help with these costs....it didnt come out of the pockets of other parents but from fund raising at events the school held, we also helped the school out with equipment they needed.
