I live in Mid Wales.
My connection to Calne is that I lived there many years ago.
I was an RAF brat. My Father was stationed at RAF Compton Basset. I attended Cherill primary school fist and at age eleven started at Calne Secondry Modern School. I was at the school for just over two years before my Father was moved on.
The Headmaster at the time was Mr Springate, who I had the misfortune to visit mant times. Needles to say his cane was kept well oiled and supple. LOL. But he and I got on very well. The other teacher that I remember was Mrs Gleed. She was the music teacher. My form teacher was Mr Henry. He used a ruler. Ouch. Yes. I was a bit of a "cheeky lad" back then.
The dates we are talking here are about 1954 to 1957, so quite-a-while-ago.
I came accross this forum whilst churning throught the Calne web sites looking for information. I did eventualy find the the information from a very nice lady in the tourist information office. So Very shortly I shall be paying a visit to Calne.
I have an old school photo with all the names at the back. If I mention them perhaps somebody might know them. Most of them will be in there sixties now. I, myself, shall be 65 in october.
Anyway this is it for now. I'm at work still and have some things to do.

I think Fynamore School was Calne Secondry Modern School.
Well I was there from, I think, late 1956 to 1959.
The headmaster was Mr Springate.
