Little to no importance.

I do try to recycle drink cans or bottles, but i draw the line at washing up food tins. I have enough washing up to do thanks and i cant put them in the dishwasher

Brisbane city council is quite effective with its recycling programs. We get multiple wheelie bins to sort waste into, cardboard/glass, garden waste and general waste. Hard rubbish once every two months, white goods removal etc. Probably the biggest thing they are talking about here is water recycling as we are on very strict water restrictions in most parts of Australia. We use gray water from the washing machine to water the plants outside.

I really cant see our council here doing all that. they suply a little black box for you to put bottles, cans, paper and clothes in, they collect it once a fortnight!

the kerb side recycling for me is a waste of time as i still have to go up the tip to recycle all the plastic bottles.which they dont do on kerbside.

Where I am, we are the only people in the town who don't have the kerbside collection - so we don't really do much in the way of recycling. I think instead of these teeny weeny black boxes, they should put in each street a mini recycle point (suitably sized for the number of houses) which takes all that can be recycled, then everyone might put in more effort if its on their doorstep - and they could then make this "charge for waste" business more effective as there would be no excuse from anyone on why they don't recycle

should we get paid

to recycle.going back a few years i can remember going up the shops with the empty lemonade /coke bottle and getting 10 p for us kids it was a great little earner.and a good incentive should people get payed to recycle or should they be made to do it.

I try to recycle as much as possible. The problem as i see it is there is far to much packaging in the first place.
Why do they wrap apple's,carrots's,pepper's in shop.?
90% of house hold rubbish is packaging.
