The Lysley Arms near Pewsham has been forced to close after a driver lost control of his car and ploughed through the entrance of the pub.
The incident occured late on Saturday night when the driver, who was travelling on the A4 towards Chippenham, left the road crashing through the outside benches and into the front porch.
The porch area was severely damaged and has since been cordoned off and the pub has closed.
A sign placed outside the entrance to the pub has cited unforeseen circumstances for its closure.

hes not the first and he wont be the last but to destroy the porch he must of been going some.
feel sorry for the pub its hard at the best of times but especialy now

i was shocked when I passed the building and saw the damage.
I dont understand how a car could have come off the road, by such a large margin........even in the "old days" pre-40mph, I could take the corner at 60mph, no problem. To come off the road through speed alone must mean the driver was going 90mph. Or maybe the driver was busy changing the cd or on the mobile phone.

The Lysley's wall was taken out by a car in the 1990s - Maybe the driver this time was a bit sleepy or not concentrating!

i came by there yesterday and wondered what was happening thought the builders were redecorating didnt know someone had hit it.
Still cant see how it happened, before the area dropped to 40mph, i used toi go round there at 60 without a problem at all the corner isnt that sharp although after rain it does get a tad wet there

funnyiest one i heard about happened about 5 years ago when a car filpped along the bonnets of the car s what were parked by the frount wall.
they always have accidents there who knows why.at least someone wasnt killed.

Maybe they should consider putting a crash barrier in place to keep crashing cars away from the pub?

 PERHAPS NOW THEY WILL MOVE THE TABLES AND BENCHES AROUND THE BACK FOR PEOPLE TO TO SIT ON ,I KNOW ITS A GOOD ADVERT FOR LOTS OF PEOPLE SITTING ENJOYING THE FREASH AIR,BUT WHAT IF THIS HAPPENEND WHILST FAMILIES WAS OUT SAT IN THE FRONT OF THE PUB .THIS STUPID MINDLESS IDIOT COULD OF WIPED OUT SOME INOCENT PERSONS LIFE.
SORRY IF THAT SOUNDS HARSH BUT I BET IT WAS SOME YOUNG LAD WHOS NOT PASSED HIS TEST LONG AGO SHOWING OFF .

i did actually write somthing worse but the computer changed the letters .
I read in the paper that the lad was arrested for drink drive !
lock him up and throw away the key .

agreed but sometimes even when they get done for drink drivin they dont even need to re take their test they get it str8 back after their ban, no need to retake their test, annoys me cus they aint gonna learn
