Hash BrownsAnybody else make their own? Here's how I do mine...........
Peel & grate as many potatoes as you think you'll need. Rinse then place in a tea towel & squeeze out as much water as you can.
Finely chop an onion (or a couple of shallots) & sautee until soft. Add to the grated potato & mix well, adding salt & loads of black pepper.
Then form the potato mixture into a 'patty' about half an inch thick & fry over a medium heat until the bottom is golden brown & starting to crisp up. Then flip the whole thing & continue to cook until t'other side's done.
Hint: If you give it a couple of minutes in the microwave at full power before frying, it helps to drive off most of the remaining water. Not strictly necessary, but quite handy.

I have never really liked hash browns i hate to see them on a full english breckfast.as they shouldnt be there

Spicy Potato Cakes (Hash Browns - Sort of)
Peel & Grate Potatoes and drain thoroughly through tea towel
Add chopped green chili, 1 beaten egg and season
Divide into greased baking rings and cook in oven until golden brown.
Yummy!
