that riot last Halloween was frightening.
Top Dog

Was it really a riot or was it just a load of kids hanging out?
GTB

They were talking about this "riot" on BBC Wiltshire Radio the other day. What was supposed to happen? Confused

Big gang of kids threw a load of eggs and stones everywhere and had a fight with the police, and also attacked a fire engine.

wooo hooo.

Try living in a big city like Bristol.

They were firing industrial fireworks at each other in Easton.

Drive by shootings and 3 murders within 400 yards of our old house.

Calne is tame in comparison (we wouldn't have moved here if it was rough). I've also lived in dodgy parts of Plymouth, Manchester (1/2 mile from Moss Side), Portsmouth and Nottingham.

I'd be willing to bet it's not as much police as Swindon v Gillingham (waste of money policing that, Gillingham don't even have a firm and they left the ground WELL before the end (Gillingham fans)

Most of them ran away when the police came I expect.
Bear

I shouldn't admit this We are STFC but when I was in my teens and early twenties we stood our ground even against the old bill and I was lucky never to get in more trouble than I did.

I've seen trouble at football matches when I was young at Sunderland and I was often invited to join in but I'm too much of a coward Laughing

And I don't mean the hooligans ran away at the matches, I mean the group of retards in Calne last year
Bear

Oh sorry "We are STFC" I misunderstood what you meant. Yes from what I recall about last years trouble in Calne at Halloween most of the kids involved were still at school at not totally grown up yet.

ewwwwwwwww.thats sick.i used to get up to some stuff when i was younger but i would never even have thought of doing that there just animals.

Surprisingly, we don't get any trick or treaters where we are (and we live above a shop) but we do see them walking by. I do think that its a bit of nuisance, especially for older people. I can't see why the parents don't get together and organise a Halloween party for the kids, if they all contributed a little each it would soon mount up, and they could organise some games and music, I'm sure the kids would enjoy it more than half an hour of trawling the streets in the cold.

I remember when I was younger I never went trick or treating. My Nan used to help out at Marden and they always had a Halloween party for the residents and their Families (mainly the Grandchildren) and I would go to that with my Nan. The OAPS really enjoyed it and so did the Kids.

And Halloween costumes aren't what they used to be, they are all shop bought nowadays, no-one makes an effort to make their own. You can even buy the complete range of nativity costumes now, what ever happened to a dressing gown and a T.Towel for a Shepherd Shocked

nothings like it used to be, that's the point of progression... only it hasn't worked quite as well as intended here.
Kizzy

There are only so many Spidermans, Ninja Turtles, Captain Jack Sparrows and other film characters you want to see on Halloween. And if the kids aren't dressed in these they're in the Skeleton or Pumpkin costumes that Woolies seem to have an abundance of. Though I do expect to see a few Cybermen and Daleks this year.
