Dorset Naga ChilliesI was in my local branch of Tesco's earlier this afternoon when I spotted, amongst their asian foods, some Dorset Naga chillies. I hadn't yet tried these chillies of almost legendary status but had tried most of the other hot chillies. I duly bought the bag of Dorset Naga chillies which contained two fruits and tried one when I got home. I love eating raw chillies with cheese - preferably in a sandwich. I chopped up one of the chillies, which are around 40mm in length, and popped it on a thin piece of cheese and took the first bite with trepidation fearing that the heat will knock me out. I needn't have worried! They are certainly very hot (the warmth of my guts can testify for that!) but not as hot as I was expecting them to be. With Scotch bonnet chillies you get an instant hit of the heat but the Naga (hotter than the bonnet) seems to creep up on you with an intense fire. My mouth was burning for less than 10 minutes and I will admit to having a slug of milk about five minutes afterwards. Oh, well if the Dorset Naga is reputedly the hottest chilli in the world at least I can say "I've eaten one of those in a sandwich!".
