That's the M6 Toll Road. Up north past Birmingham. The world isn't flat and you won't fall off the edge if you go past Gloucester.
The government has put all those "matrix" signs on the motorways, they've now got the cabling infrastructure to put cameras on and start road charging.
However in France the price isn't too high and the roads are good. The M5 between J15 and J12 is very heavily rutted.
Road tax should be put on petrol the more you drive, the more you pay...... No escape either.

Few years back we drove to austria and the toll mainly in france were just a complete pain and the prices differed so much at one you would pay 3 quid and at the others sometimes 7.
if they indrodice them here it would push hell of a lot of cars off the moterway and make them go on roads.
i also do not think that it will be right if you pay road tax and still get charged to go on a road.also how about those who use the moterway every day?i know a few people who live here but work in london ,or how about those who live in chippenham and work in swindon.
your idea about the road tax on petrol seems a good one and would push more people to car share.

We already pay an enormous percentage in taxes on petrol, I wouldn't be in favour of adding more for what I think we are already paying for.
French autoroutes are very expensive if you travel a long distance on them, so Î'd not hold them up as the best example.

french auto bans are expensive.i agree with you there we ended up getting off and using the smaller roads totaly free.
but there is a huge danger that this will happen here.
if they toll the moterways imagen what the a4 will be like because you will push quite a few people off the moter ways by tolling.
