calne woman walks free from courtTHIS IS TAKEN FROM THE GAZETTE AND HERALD WEBSITE
A Calne woman who peddled tens of thousands of pounds worth of hard drugs has walked free from court.
Donna Gold, of Primrose Close, Calne, rented a bedsit and hired cars to help her trade selling heroin and crack cocaine to users.
But after hearing how her boyfriend, who she claimed had been violent towards her, had introduced her to the trade but not been prosecuted a judge decided not to jail her.
Instead Judge Douglas Field imposed a 12 month sentence suspended for just a year and told her to do 240 hours of unpaid work an observe a night time curfew for three months.
Gold, who benefited from crime to the tune of £39,000, will only have to pay £1,205.50p of her ill gotten gains.
Hannah Squire, prosecuting, told the Swindon Crown Court today how police carried out observations on the 39-year-old during at the start of the year.
On Wednesday January 21 she was seen in a van which was approached by two men who appeared to be buying drugs from her.
She said the officers approached and arrested both Gold and the two men, each of whom were in possession or wraps of drugs.
They searched a bed sit in Clifton Street, Swindon, which surveillance officers had seen her going to over the previous weeks and found more drugs including 48 wraps of crack cocaine.
Also recovered were lists of names with amounts owing written on them and other paraphernalia including plastic bag with the corners removed to make wraps.
At another address linked to Gold they also found other dealer’s lists and while she was in custody she had 48 missed calls on her mobile phone.
When she was questioned she admitted she had been supplying the drugs from June last year until her arrest.
Gold told police her boyfriend, Aaron Pincelle, would come up from London three or four times a week with drugs for her to supply.
She would rent cars using cash to pay for them and took out the lease on the bed sit to enable them to run the business.
However she said he could be violent towards her and on one occasion assaulted her and told her he would find her should she stop selling drugs for him.
She said they would sell three wraps, which normally cost £10 each, for £25 and her dealing caused trouble with other local dealers who stole her stock on one occasion.
Miss Squire said that although Mr Pincelle was investigated by the police he was not charged as there was insufficient evidence.
Gold pleaded guilty to six counts of supplying class A drugs and two of possession with intent to supply.
Rob Ross, defending, said that his client is a mother of two who had no previous conviction and was acting under the malign influence of Mr Pincelle.
In August last year she was treated for a cut to her head which he said was caused when he struck her with a plant pot.
He said that his client received nothing from the drug dealing apart from somewhere to put her head down at the bed sit.
Passing sentence the judge said “You were involved in quite a sophisticated and elaborate drug supply operation. I am quite satisfied about that from what I have been told.
“The number of wraps that were found in your possession, drugs paraphernalia, customer lists, the fact you’ve been hiring vehicles, a bedsit was rented apparently for the sole purpose of facilitating supply.
“In the ordinary course of events that would warrant five years’ imprisonment. These are class A drugs, they are extremely dangerous and deterrent sentences need to be passed.
“I find the circumstance of your case to be exceptional. I am sentencing you on the basis of your plea. You were in constant fear of this Mr Pincelle.
“He subjected you to continual serious violence. When you told him you wanted to stop supplying these drugs he told you he would find you.”
