You're right Local_lass, the Carnival is this weekend coming up. I've no idea about the A4 shutting or not. I know there are gonna be a load of scarecrows! Can't say any more.

i couldnt go to the carnival but i did drive passed the procession .which took all of 20 seconds
was it any good?

we watched procession at the top of Lickhill Road.
A good selection of people, but not that many floats.
Major Wrecks were hilarious, I was crying from laughing so much!!!
I will post some pics later.

I think the idea is to get rid of floats altogether eventually and get more into the cleaner option of a walking procession, like Notting Hill.

Local lass: most of the floats ain't done up at all, they just have some people and props plonked on them. IF they were done up proper with decor all over the vehicles, I would appreciate it a lot more. One lorry even had it's curtains attached flapping about. Hardly pretty.
