Brean sands

Went for a drive yesterday afternoon .i went to brean. There isnt a lot in brean except caravan parks but it does have a fantastic beach which you park on and is great for walking the dog.and rock pooling.you can not get near the sea because of mud flats.
its about a 10 minute drive from wsm and a 15 minute drive to kewstokes which is another fantastic beach  for dog walking,in all it took 1 hour to get there ,photos to follow.

Nice pics local, looks like you had reasonable weather, where was that snow they were talking about, still i bet your puppy had a great time, ours did last weekend at bowlease cove Weymouth.
GTB

I was at Weymouth last week (Saturday) as well. Even though the sea was pretty darn cold there was still people in it upto their chest and attempting to swim in it.

I don't know if I have ever been to Brean sands.

we had a couple of spots of rain and that was it.oz loved it he got incredibly filthy.what puppy do you have?
i like bowleaze but find it a bit comercial.if you travel up the road abit from there before you get to osmington there is a right hand turn sign posted to ringsted the whole road is about two miles long near the end of the road there is a right hand turn which leads you to a car park which is privately owned you have to pay 4 quid hundred yard from that is a cove what not a lot of people know about so is generly very quiet its a great alternitive from weymouth beach.
if you do not turn right to go down the beach ioo yards on there is a nationl trust land which you can park up and enjoy a picnic loads of dogs walks as well the scenary is really nice as you over look portland.i do have some pics some where i will try and find them out.

gtb for a afternoon bream is fantastic./

Do you work your dog on a shoot, Chris?

I would have done 25 years ago when  i lived in the sticks but im in the town now but having Charlie gets me out in the countryside a lot more now, she is only six months but she work the hedges quite well.
GTB

I belong to a local shooting syndicate and love to see the dogs working. We've had a few cockers over the years who work their socks off and will even retrieve a bird that is the same size as them.
Chris P Bacon

I used to shoot a bit but that was in the past a long time ago, we got charlie mostly as a pet but we have found she need lots of exercise so im getting fitter by the day.
GTB

They certainly do have some energy to burn off. Has your dog been docked?
Chris P Bacon

No Which has annoyed me when she get board guess what she chases God it makes me dizzy Big Grin
GTB

One of the cockers on our shoot wasn't docked and the mess she was in at the end was something else. Because cockers (and springers) like to run through hedges or in amongst them their tails get snagged and end up quite bloody at times. Some vets will even refuse to dock a cocker.
Chris P Bacon

Tail or no tail our dog allways finds the muddiest puddle to wade in that was the good thing about weymouth she loved the sea and didnt get to mucky.

hes a cracker cris

do you take your dog to puppy classes or any training classes?
Chris P Bacon

We took Charlie to puppy classes of sorts it was more getting her to interact with other puppies and make sure there were no problems with her behaviour.
We do not plan any formal training, we are doing that ourselves, we have allready reached the sit/stay/fetch/ stage.
I feel some dogs are over trained and do what they are told when told to do so and they seem to lose some of there charecter,I want a dog that a bit stupid sometimes, just like me
Local lass

no what you mean by staying a pet.another odd question i know but what do you feed her on ?oz is on royal cannin but for a start i find it expensive at 44 quid for big bag and i think he is getting bored of it .
Chris P Bacon

We started with Science Plan Puppy food but she also seemed to become bored of that.
We have just started her on James Wellbeloved Lamb and rice puppy food, she likes it.
Local lass

i have been recomended james beloved .i was warned not to have bakers or pedigree chum as appaently they are crap and the ingrediants are less than pure.oz can have quite a senitive stomach .so really do not know what to put him on
Local lass

Well i got some jw and he likes it most important though it hasnt given him the sqirts. i couldnt get puppy though i got junior turkey and rice.
Do you on;ly have the one dog?
Chris P Bacon

Local lass
