Booze

Now here is an emotive issue where you have organisations like CAMRA and so called wine experts talking about tasting the cask and nice bouquets. What a lot of hogwash if I like a drink I like a drink doesnt matter how much it cost a bottle or whether its a "real ale" or not. I generally drink cider (Strongbow or Magners) in the summer and Boddingtons/John Smiths in the winter when at the pub and a nice liebfraumilch with my Sunday lunch. I drink these because "I" like the taste. Other people will be different. What do you all like.
GTB

I will try most things but will only return to a drink because I like it. Real ale has a much more varied taste to offer in its range of beers than factory brewed, chemically enhanced lagers. Whisky on the other hand is a desired taste and I have to admit it's my favoured spirit.

i think most wines taste the same really, whether it cost £15 or £3
i mostly favour cider espacialy as bear said in the summer, you can't beat a nice bottle of stowford press :D , or green goblin, but will settle for strongbow if nowt else is available, as for lager kroney 1664,
daffy

:flower: a nice tipple with a good roast dinner is a chillian red wine ,or a nice jug of pimms and lemonade with floaty bits of cucumber ,mint leaves and slices of orange ,thats really refreashing.

Stowford press and Strongbow are little more than chemically enhanced appletizer. If you want proper cider get your self some scrumpy which has no fizz and is naturally cloudy. As for the wines, I am not a wine buff by any means but don't you think that really cheap wine (3 for a tenner, etc) tastes absolutely rank? Most of the really cheap stuff is made from concentrated grape juice (similar to orange squash - but with grapes) which they then add water to and ferment it. This wine then has all manner of chemical stabalisers to help it clear and prolong its shelf life.

scrumpy and cider is two different things.
scumpy is made from a mixture of apples where as cider is only made from one type of apple.

They are both "cider" though. I can't stand fizzy cider like strongbow. :bootyshake: :drunken:

Both are drunk by everyone under 18 in calne. For proper scrumpy, visit the highwayman near oakhampton in devon. Thier scrumpy has bits floating in it and is 18%
Local lass

i thought that was white lighting every one drunk under 18.

i have never understood wine most of them taste like vinegar.
Clunk

Cheap wine is fine. I find the more expensive ones are s****
Kizzy

The bestest wine ever is my friend's home made banana and sultana wine - YUMMY!

I also like cheap wine when I can't get home made, or a proper ale, or Bacardi and Pineapple Juice - Chocolate Schnapps is good, drank a whole bottle neat to myself one night and didn't feel ill

I love bailey with ice now that is nice.
Kizzy

Dooley's - Can drink a whole bottle of that and not feel i'll :D
Clunk

I dont drink nearly as much as kizzy, but I have never had a hangover.
Although I have woke up next day still drunk after drinking 2 litres of sherry in half an hour.
Kizzy

I would like to point out I don't drink very often, but when I do I can consume a fair amount, especially very sweet and sickly stuff - Can't always guarantee what state I'll be in the next day though.

Have been on a bender with my boyf in the early time of our relationship, started at 6pm didn't finish till 1am and i had to be up at 6am to go to work for 8am - yes I was still drunk and I was very naughty because I drove - I was still pretty merry until about 1pm where I decided I really needed sleep and dropped off in front of my computer.
Local lass

i think we are all guilty of doing stuff like that.
Clunk

I'm not
Local lass

well ok then clunk you may be a exception
i have done it .i got drunk on vodka and was no where near capable of working i had the shake and was still being sick  can not drink vodka since.
Kizzy

I can't touch Cider or Southern Comfort - Got very drunk on both at a young age and now can't even stand the smell. It's quite bad with Cider as I can't drink any apple drinks like juice or appletize
Bear

Well I think one thing is clear we all have different tastes and one mans perfect drink would be another mans poison. Just as well really because if we all had the same tastes there would be a shortage of what ever drink it was. Keep on supping and remember the old Latin phrase "Bibo Ergo Sum"

Drink to exist??
Bear

No I believe the translation is something along the lines of "I drink therefore I am"
Bear

But also remember that reality is an illusion brought about by lack of alcohol
