no one is denying that it was a shocking day in football history.
i just wonder why some anniversarys get marked and others dont.

I can remember this event quite clearly because I was listening to the radio at the time when working in Chippenham. It was a sad event and yes we should be marking it as a sign of respect for the dead - most of which were under the age of 25.

why?just because there under 25.there has been sadder and larger disasters than this which has happened in the uk in the last 50 years which do not seem to get a mention..

Such as??

I think these disaster and others are remembered because they unfolded before us on the tv screens, the tsuami was so heavily covered by the media im sure we will all remember it for years to come.
some disasters are not captured by the media so will be forgoten sooner
Local lass

the tsuami was total different because of the sheer number what was killed.(tsuami was a word i never knew before that happened people called them tidal waves)

dunblane/hungerford/lockabie/the bombings done by the ira/

all disasters like these you can learn from to stop them being repeated.
i have known them to do one for 7/11 and thats it somethink which is not even in our country although we were affected.
GTB

Tsunami means harbour wave in Japanese.

These were not only disasters but acts of murder, something quite different than Hillsborough.

Don't you mean 9/11? That date should be remembered in America because they not only learnt what it's like to be targeted by a foreign terrorist cell but it also stopped them giving money to Irish terrorists intent on bombing us!!
Local lass

so those dates shouldnt be reemembered ?

how about the zeebrugger/aberfan?

I didn't say they shouldn't be remembered?

to me that says that they shouldnt .be.
GTB

It doesn't to me.  All I'm stating is that the circumstances surrounding these events (Dunblane, Hungerford, etc) are different because they were the acts of murder rather than an accident.
Local lass

so abafan/zebrugger ??
GTB

Why not. I'm sure in some circles of society they do commemorate the passing of the date each year.
