WOW that describes the meal i had over there this lunch time.i havnt been there for well over ten years.
we walked in there was a huge log open fire crackling away.
there was two of us we both had the steak and kidney pie with veg and chips.
the pie was huge and all homes made, the veg were divine we had culi cheese, broccali and mashed carrot with black pepper.
all veg and meat are sorced from local farms.
for pudding we shared a chocolate and baileys mouse with went down swimmingly.service was great  cost with the meal and two drinks each 12 quid each.
its now 5 hours since i ate that meal and im still stuffed.
if you dont know or have never been in the ivy it is one of the last proper country pubs.it is privately owned so  no one dictates whts on the menu or how its decorated.
they have a real varied menu and something which would uit all.
i would have to say the ivy has claimed my top ten spot in eating places for wiltshire.
