A reporter interviewed her for reserch as she was a steward .about a year after the interveiw she died and her niece found her memmoirs of her entire life.
the reporter changed it to book.
its not perfectly set out and some of it is very hit and miss.
but its a great example of the life she led.the courting procedure of the time and how child hood death was at a alll time hi.
she grew up in argentina,then moved to england after the death of her father..she was very well educated but left school to go and work on the ships.so she could sent money home as her mother who used to work on the ships stoped due to ill health,with violet being the oldest at 16 she took on the responabillity to be the bread winner and to feed 5 hungry mouths.
it is a good book.

No Local lass I havent finished it yet I will tell you when I have, I usually read a book in about 4 days but I have been so busy in the garden and walking the dogs :)
