Now that the oldest trade is again in the headlines with the New York Governor getting caught with his trousers down I was wondering if prostitution is really that bad in todays modern world? How come it is fine for an actress or actor to be paid to simulate a sexual act on somebody in front of an audience or camera yet it is deemed immoral for a prostitute, who will also most likely be "acting", to accept/demand money for sexual favours? There will obviously be religous view points on this subject but given a logical viewing it is rather strange that a mature person cannot sell sexual favours if they decide to without threat of arrest. Are todays laws on this subject arcaic to say the least?

| About 12/13 years ago, I used to drive to compton basset every evening to see a girl I was seeing at the time. Almost every night, there was a woman stood by a lamp post outside wessington yard. I often wondered if she was on the game. |

i saw in the paper a few days ago how a prostitude was accusing someone of rape.
couldnt see the logic there really.
theft would have been better.
it should be made legal that way its more controled and safer for the woman and men who do it and for there clients. |

I was watching a programme on one of the digital channels last night where escorts were concerned. They stated that it was perfectly legal for someone to hire an escort girl or man and then to have sex with them. Apparently, as long as you are paying for their service of being escorted and not for sex you are being perfectly legal - the sex must be a freebie I suppose or a hidden extra? I think this is why so many massage parlors get away with being knocking shops. :? _________________

Nice topic...
Prostitution in this country has never been illegal. Soliciting it is!
Local Girl - I am guessing you were joking when you say it could not be rape but theft? Rape is not about sex it is about violence and control and cruel abuse, even the most gentle rapist is doing harm.
I am all for prostitution for many reasons, though I have yet to use the service. [I am not for banning sale of alcohol, though I don't drink it (except for alcopops which should be for sale ONLY in over 21 night clubs).]
Someone said it's the oldest profession. Spying is reputed to be the world's 2nd oldest profession. I know which I consider to be the dirtiest, and it ain't the one you can protect yourself by using condoms! _________________ Democracy is dead. |
