The parish church in Calne (in church street) dates from the 1400's I think and maybe sited on an earlier building. Some churches in England are 1000 years old. _________________

12th Century actually and yes built on an earlier saxon church !
If you go inside .... go to the middle of the church and look back over the main doorway you came in. There is a small section of the original saxon church there , just above the doorway !.
The church originally had a spire too !!!!!!!!!!!!! a very big one as well !!!!!!!!!!!!. |
