The small shop next to the Jenny Wren has new owners and the all the staff have been made redundant.
It will reopen after a stocktake and some refurbishment.
Its a shame that the staff which are all local to the area have to look for new jobs but the shop will now, I understand, be run by family members. _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

to be honest im amazed that shop is still there.its so over priced.and is dingy and dirty.as for some of the staff in there ,there nothing more than zombies.i would sooner wealk that little bit extra and go to tesco,at least there the staff are polite there is more choise.
good luck to the new owners though. |

sorry but cannot agree I use the newcroft road shop daily and cannot complain about price or staff.
tesco,s on the other hand are often out of stock, today went to buy some frozen pastry but they had none. they are not cheap, apart from their basic range, and while some of the staff are friendly & helpful some are not.
I would and do support local shops where possible, tesco,s business practise is all about killing off the opposition and then raising prices when there is no where else to go! _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |

i have been there and there is one woman who is really chatty but also been there and a woman was annoyed that she had to put her cigarette out cus i wanted to go in the shop!!
I find Tescos is cheaper and has more variety but thats obvious as it's a bigger shop!
But it's a shame about them losing their jobs! |

ive seen the staff out side sitting on milk cretes in the summer by the door what doent create a good impression at all.
peter ,you wanted pastry the fact tesco stocked it for it to be out of stock is amazing for a corner shop.
the price of ciggerettes at newcroft can be as much as 50p dearer than at tesco. |

tesco's did not have it, I don't smoke cigarettes but my cigars are the cheapest in town (were).
the staff were friendly people and like a book you cannot tell the contents from the cover. _________________ A lifelong Calne supporter |
